BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a toddler and a teenager are in critical condition but are expected to survive after being shot in a Buffalo driveway earlier this week.

Police say 14-year-old Jamal Sanders may have been the intended target of Monday night’s gunfire outside a home on Fennimore Avenue. The teen was hit in the neck, legs and back while the 3-year-old boy riding his tricycle nearby was shot in the chest.

Both are in critical condition at Women and Children’s Hospital, but officials say they’re expected to recover.

Local media report the toddler was with his grandfather when he was shot.

Police are trying to determine what led to the shooting. No arrests have been reported.
