ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A woman crossing a busy Anchorage intersection on a scooter was struck and critically injured.

Anchorage police say 20-year-old Cynthia Wheeler sustained life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a motorcycle.

Wheeler just before 7:30 p.m. Monday was riding west across C Street at 32nd Avenue and was struck by the motorcycle driven by 26-year-old Michael Frazier.

No citations were issued. Frazier sustained what police called minor injuries.

Police are asking witnesses to call them.

Police say it’s illegal to operate motor-driven cycles such as scooters in parks and recreation areas or on sidewalks or bike paths unless designated for that use.
