TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tulsa police have identified a man who was shot and killed by a hospital security guard.
Police officials said Saturday that 35-year-old Jorge Urbina was fatally shot Friday afternoon after reportedly using a stolen weapon during an armed standoff with two security guards at Hillcrest Medical Center.
The Tulsa World reports (https://bit.ly/RL0s51 ) that the guard received a report that indicated a man was tampering with vehicles in a hospital parking lot and confronted him.
Officers say the man attempted to take a motorcycle. Security personnel confronted him while he tried to circumvent the motorcycle’s locking mechanism and ignition system.
Police say the man produced a handgun before he was fatally shot. A .40-caliber handgun recovered near the man’s body was reported stolen on May 1 in Oklahoma City.
