POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (AP) - A coroner has ruled that man found dead in a southeast Missouri jail committed suicide by hanging himself.

The Poplar Bluff Daily American Republic (https://bit.ly/14xhyUm ) reports that the coroner’s inquiry followed the death on May 1 of Butler County Justice Center inmate Adam Butch Banks. An autopsy determined he died by strangulation due to hanging.

Banks was arrested April 30 on suspicion of second-degree property damage. Authorities say he was placed in isolation a holding cell due to aggressive behavior. His body was found the next day.
