SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (AP) - A 10-year-old girl has died two days after she was struck by a school bus in her suburban Salt Lake City neighborhood.
South Jordan Police Sgt. Sam Winkler says Seleny Crosby died Friday afternoon at a Salt Lake City hospital with her family at her side.
The Welby Elementary School student had just gotten off her bus Wednesday afternoon and was crossing the street when she was struck by a second bus whose driver didn’t see her.
Winkler says after her bus pulled over to let students off, the driver activated the four-way hazard flashers but didn’t activate the yellow or red bus loading lights or stop signs.
He says GPS data and surveillance videos show that speed wasn’t a factor and that the second bus driver wasn’t distracted.
