BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Police say they’ve arrested a Baton Rouge man accused of murdering his roommate and burying him in a garden.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1m0oDr2 ) 54-year-old Douglas Studeman was booked Tuesday on suspicion of killing 77-year-old Chester Oakley at their home.

Police say Studeman and Oakley got into a fight when Studeman allegedly hit and killed the older man with a blunt object before burying Oakley outside in a garden. Police say Studeman then took several items which belonged to Oakley.

Family members contacted police, asking them to check on Oakley after they hadn’t heard from him.

Studeman faces a charge of first-degree murder. It was unclear whether he has an attorney.
