VIVIAN, La. (AP) - Caddo Parish sheriff’s deputies say a 45-year-old Vivian man is accused of killing his sister and setting her home on fire.

Sheriff’s office spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick says Chris McCauley was arrested Monday and booked with second-degree murder and arson.

Chadwick says first responders found 50-year-old Carmen McCauley in her bed, dead from gunshot wounds.

Vivian Police officer Clint Alexander was the first to arrive at the scene, but was unable to get far inside the home because of smoke. Caddo Fire District No. 8 extinguished the flames.

It was unclear whether Chris McCauley has an attorney.
