NEW YORK — Two Brooklyn elementary students have been arrested on suspicion of tainting a teacher’s water bottle with rat poison.

Authorities say the children, ages nine and 12, were arrested on charges of reckless endangerment and assault.

The incident happened on Monday at P.S. 315 on Glenwood Road in Flatbush.

Police say other students apparently witnessed the pair putting something into the teacher’s water bottle. A mother of one of the witnesses called the school to report the act.

Officials say the teacher went to her private doctor after drinking from the bottle and is recovering. Authorities are conducting tests on the water.

A schools spokeswoman says “swift and appropriate” action will be taken.
