SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - A northeastern Pennsylvania woman who was caught on camera beating her elderly mother entered a guilty plea Wednesday.

Fifty-six-year-old Carolyn James of Dickson City pleaded guilty Wednesday in Lackawanna County Court to recklessly endangering another person. She faces a maximum of two years in prison.

Prosecutors said a camera recorded her beating, threatening, screaming obscenities and pulling the hair of her 96-year-old mother Mary Jane James, who suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s disease.

A year ago, a Chicago man researching webcams online stumbled across a live camera feed from James‘ living room. He recorded the assault and contacted authorities.

County investigators got court permission to trace the location of the camera through its IP address.

Mary Jane James was removed from her daughter’s care and placed in a nursing home.
