PUTNEY, Vt. (AP) - Police are investigating a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 91 in Vermont that closed northbound traffic in Putney for hours.

The crash happened Tuesday morning about a mile north of Exit 4. Police said the driver, 45-year-old Michael Fraser of Killingworth, Connecticut, was heading northbound when it appeared that one the tires of his vehicle blew out. It struck a bridge and a gas tank ruptured, causing a fire.

Police said a car carrier and the seven vehicles on board were destroyed by the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Crews cleaned up diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid that spilled across the road.
