ABINGDON, Va. (AP) - A Washington County group is taking dog tags engraved with the names of 16 veterans to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Media outlets report that the tags were dedicated Tuesday during a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park in Abingdon. Family members were given copies of the tags and roses.

Park board member Vernon Smith says the tags will be stored permanently at the memorial.

This will be the second year that the names of Washington County veterans will be taken to the memorial.
