HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) - A senior and a freshman have been chosen to serve as Marshall University’s mascot.

Marshall announced Thursday that a panel of judges selected senior Makenzee Ruley of Redding, Calif., and freshman Tristan Bowen of Ashford to play Marco this year.

Marco also was portrayed by two students last year.

Marshall chief of staff Matt Turner says in a news release that Marco has a busy schedule. Along with roaming the sidelines at football and basketball games, the bison mascot appears at groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, homecoming and student events, and private functions.

Ruley and Bowen each will receive a $2,000 scholarship, $1,000 for textbooks and a parking space. Each also will have a personal trainer at the Marshall Recreation Center.
