HARRISBURG, Ill. (AP) - Services are set for a 12-year-old girl who died when she fell about 100 feet from a rocky area in southern Illinois’ Shawnee National Forest during a family outing.

Jenny Weiland of Ridgway died in the fall Tuesday evening at the popular Garden of the Gods in the forest’s Chimney Rock area.

Her mother, Rachel Lynch, tells WSIL-TV (https://bit.ly/1lVwjcq ) her fiance and sister’s boyfriend tried to grab the girl when she slipped, but the sixth-grader’s shirt ripped and she fell.

Her obituary says she enjoyed singing at church, swimming, biking, playing, cooking with her grandpa and was interested in crosses.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, followed by burial in Westwood Cemetery in Shawneetown.
