WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A former New Hanover County sheriff’s deputy has been found guilty of several sex-related charges and is facing at least 27 years in prison.

The New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office said 39-year-old Harold Lamont Fletcher of Wilmington was convicted by a jury on Friday of charges including attempted first-degree sexual offense, six counts of indecent liberties with a child and 18 counts of felony secret peeping.

A judge also ordered Fletcher to register as a sex offender for 30 years.

Fletcher was charged by the State Bureau of Investigation in December 2012 with secret peeping and taking indecent liberties with a minor. He was fired the same day by the sheriff’s office.

The district attorney’s office said additional charges were filed in January 2013 after more evidence was discovered.
