DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Greenfield Village is being transformed this weekend into 1860s America for a series of Civil War commemorative events.

The history attraction in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn is hosting Union, Confederate and civilian encampments and live military tactical demonstrations for three days starting Saturday. A noon Memorial Day ceremony is planned on the Village Green.

“Greenfield Village has become a place where we commemorate one of the most pivotal time periods of our nation’s history,” Brian James Egen, Executive Producer at The Henry Ford, said in a statement.

Greenfield Village is part of The Henry Ford, a history attraction that includes Henry Ford Museum. The Henry Ford has partnered with the National Park Service and will be taking part in Reverberations, a program connecting three Virginia parks other U.S. communities.

Greenfield Village’s Civil War Remembrance event is endorsed by the Michigan Historical Commission’s Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee. Full details about Civil War events at Greenfield Village are posted on The Henry Ford’s website.
