DETROIT (AP) - Police say a 22-year-old woman has died after a handgun discharged while being cleaned by a 19-year-old man in Detroit.
The Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News report the shooting happened Thursday afternoon on the city’s west side.
Sgt. Michael Woody says the man apparently didn’t clear a round from the chamber, and the bullet went through the man’s thumb and hit the woman.
Woody says the man was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The prosecutor’s office is expected to review the case.
