OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Authorities in Northern California are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy found inside his home.

Oakland police say the toddler was pronounced dead at a local hospital after he was found unresponsive inside the home in the city’s Laurel District Friday morning.

Officer J. Moore, a police spokesman, said Saturday that police are currently treating the incident as a possible case of sudden infant death syndrome as investigators are looking in the cause of the boy’s death.

The name of the toddler has not been released.
