WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The Delaware State Police says a motorcyclist is in critical condition after being struck by a car in New Castle County.

The Delaware State Police says the crash happened Friday around 9 p.m. as the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Governor Printz Boulevard. The man slowed to make a turn onto Haines Avenue when he was hit by the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze. State police say the motorcycle driver, 56-year-old Roy Knightly of Bear, was thrown onto the roadway and pinned under the car.

State Police say good Samaritans were able to get Knightly out from under the car. Knightly, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to the hospital by helicopter and is in critical condition.

No charges have been filed.
