PHILADELPHIA, Miss. (AP) - A Philadelphia man is being held in the shooting death of 22-year-old Marquai Kirkland, whose body was found Tuesday night along a gravel road near Northside Park.

Police Chief Grant Myers tells The Neshoba Democrat (https://bit.ly/1nEGYJE ) 40-year-old Samuel Amos is charged with murder. Amos is also charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

Myers says 35-year-old is charged as with accessory after the fact.

The two were arrested Friday. They are in jail pending initial court appearances.

Myers says the case remains under investigation.

Myers says a passer-by discovered the body in a secluded area on the edge of town.

Police are waiting on an autopsy report to learn more about Kirkland’s exact cause of death.
