PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Department of Revenue is accepting applications from eligible senior and disabled residents for once-a-year sales or property tax refunds.

Qualified applicants can receive a refund based on their income. The program’s income requirements for this year set the limit at $11,670 for a single-member household and at $15,730 for a multiple-member household.

Applications will be accepted through July 1 and checks will be issued at the end of August.

Among other requirements, those applying must have been South Dakota residents for the entire previous year and at least 66 years old on or before Jan. 1 or be disabled during any part of the year.

Applications can be obtained from the department’s website or at a local county auditor’s office.
