KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 13-year-old boy has been fatally shot in Kalamazoo following an argument and fight between a large group of people.

Kalamazoo Public Safety says officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. Monday to a report of a shooting and found Michael Day of Kalamazoo with a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The department says he was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley tells the Kalamazoo Gazette than an 18-year-old man who may have been involved in the shooting is in custody on unrelated charges. Hadley says the shooting apparently stemmed from an ongoing feud between people in the neighborhood.

Hadley says Michael was in eighth grade at Milwood Middle School. Detectives say they have several leads on possible suspects.
