POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of the man who was fatally shot by a Hudson Valley police officer after he attacked another officer with a box cutter.

Police in the city of Poughkeepsie tell the Poughkeepsie Journal (https://pojonews.co/1gwYiS4 ) that 27-year-old Shiquan Krouser was killed early Saturday morning after being shot multiple times during a confrontation with officers.

Officials say the officers had responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance by stopping cars at an intersection while yelling and screaming. Authorities say when one of the first officers arrived at the scene, Krouser attacked her while she was still inside her police cruiser.

Officials say that’s when another officer shot Krouser. The Poughkeepsie resident was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooting is being reviewed by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office.
