COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - An attorney for a 16-year-old central Ohio girl accused of fatally stabbing another teen during an argument says she was confronted at her house by a group of people, including one with a gun.
Columbus police say 17-year-old Jasmine Goodwin was killed Wednesday afternoon on the city’s east side, and a 16-year-old girl is now charged with murder in juvenile court.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the 16-year-old did not appear at a court hearing Thursday morning, but her attorney says he’ll request that she be tried as an adult.
A report says Goodwin went over to the other girl’s house to fight at about 3 p.m., and it escalated from there.
Goodwin was a junior at Walnut Ridge High School, which planned to have grief counselors available Thursday.
