STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials in south Georgia say an investigation into an 11-year-old girl’s pregnancy has led to criminal charges for a teenage boy.

Bulloch County sheriff’s officials said in a statement that the probe began in late April when authorities were called to the East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

Authorities say an investigation and interviews led them to the 17-year-old suspect, who has been charged with statutory rape, child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. The teen is being held in the Bulloch County jail.

The Associated Press typically doesn’t identify juvenile crime suspects.
