NEW ROADS, La. (AP) - A 27-year-old woman convicted of vehicular homicide has been ordered to pay $2 million to a man who was seriously injured and the family of a woman who was killed in the wreck.

The Advocate (https://bit.ly/1kcADaB ) reports that a judge has ordered Victoria Gosserand of Ventress to pay $550,000 to Kyle Riviere of New Roads, who was driving the car Gosserand hit, and $1.5 million to Carro Cooks. Cooks’ 7-year-old son was left motherless when 23-year-old Terri Marie Parker of New Roads was thrown from Riviere’s car and killed.

Gosserand was released from the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail eight months ago, after serving one year of her three-year sentence. She is has 16 months of supervised probation remaining.

Vehicular homicide is the crime of killing someone while driving drunk.
