OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals has upheld the first-degree murder conviction and life prison sentence of an Oklahoma City man.

The court rejected appeals by 29-year-old Dannie S. Lee that his jury should have been instructed to consider first-manslaughter in his case; or that Lee was voluntarily intoxicated when he shot and killed the victim. The Friday ruling also rejects Lee’s claim that state prosecutors failed to provide sufficient evidence to convict him of first-degree murder.

Lee was convicted in the May 2011 shooting death of 18-year-old Marquis Lewis. Lee said he shot Lewis in self-defense after Lewis reached for Lee’s gun during a confrontation between the two.
