BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A former Celestial Seasonings distribution manager accused of embezzling more than $1.8 million from the Boulder-based tea company has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Daily Camera reports (https://bit.ly/1kuxCwr ) 43-year-old Jeffrey Michael Wagner was sentenced Friday. He pleaded guilty in March to forgery and theft of more than $20,000.

Investigators say Wagner, who worked at the company from 2006 until June 2012, created a fake vendor and began authorizing invoices to the fictitious company. Court records say the bogus company listed Wagner’s cell phone number as contact information, and the bank routing number matched that of his personal account where Celestial Seasonings deposited his paychecks.

As distribution manager, Wagner could approve new vendor applications and invoices under $20,000.
