SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 30-year-old man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a Chicago man in downtown Salt Lake City last month.

Harlin Ramos was charged Friday in 3rd District Court in the April 19 death of 33-year-old Joaquin Gonzalez.

According to investigators, the victim and a female friend had returned to their vehicle after watching a late-night movie when they were approached in an “aggressive manner” by the suspect.

A fight erupted between the two men and Gonzalez died from his injuries.

According to the charging documents, the woman heard Gonzalez plead with Ramos during the fight not to kill him because he had two children.

Police have described Ramos as a transient and have branded the killing as senseless and random.
