CHESTER, S.C. (AP) - A Columbia man has died after his parachute malfunctioned during a jump in Chester County.

Deputy Coroner Tommy Williams says 65-year-old Wolfgang Langehans died at the scene Sunday afternoon. An autopsy was planned Monday.

Authorities say Langehans had jumped from a plane at 13,000 feet.

Authorities are still investigating what happened to Langehans’ parachute.

Skydive Carolina said Langehans had made more than 5,500 jumps in 30 years of skydiving.
