WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - Dates are set for candidates in Williams County’s June 10 elections to explain their positions to the public.

The Williston Herald (https://bit.ly/1kGleLN) reports that the first mayoral forum will be held on May 12 at 7 p.m. A second mayoral forum will be held on May 29 at 7 p.m.

Williston’s mayoral race will be between local Howard Klug and new arrivals Marcus Jundt and Jim Purkey.

Mayor Ward Koeser is stepping down from his position after 20 years in office. The winner of the election will be the first new mayor Williston has had since the oil boom hit the town around five years ago.

Forums will also be held for candidates running in the county and city commission, legislative, park board and school board races.
