NORTH PLATE, Neb. (AP) - A North Platte man has been charged with child abuse for punching his teenage son.

The North Platte Telegraph says (https://bit.ly/1iY8Vrv ) the 52-year-old father went to the North Platte Recreation Center on Friday night to pick up his 14-year-old son, who was banned from a dance there for fighting.

The father told officers his son punched him in the face as they argued. Police say the father then punched his son several times.

The father was arrested and has since bonded out of Lincoln County’s jail. The boy was cited for assault and being an uncontrollable juvenile.

The Associated Press is not naming the father, in order to protect the privacy of the boy. The AP generally doesn’t name juveniles accused of crimes.
