NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police have arrested a man who allegedly viciously kicked a cat.

Police say Andre Robinson was waiting for a food delivery in Brooklyn when he turned to his friends and said “watch this.”

Robinson then allegedly lured the cat by holding out his hand while a friend videotaped the incident.

According to the arrest report, the cat flew about 20 feet. Police couldn’t say if the cat had been found.

The Daily News (https://nydn.us/1nkISA3 ) says the video was posted on Facebook Friday and circulated for days. It says dozens of people wrote angry comments including “This is NEVER okay to do.”

Robinson’s mother, Mary Kirby, defended her 21-year-old son. She told the News: “He had to be high on something. It’s very out of his character.”
