PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - Rapides Parish sheriff’s deputies say a 50-year-old Pineville man is accused of taking a donation jar that was set up to benefit a cancer-stricken mother of five children.

The Town Talk reports (https://townta.lk/1hwIium ) the theft was reported on April 22 from the Pit Stop convenience store in Pineville.

Deputies say Charles Fredrick Monette was arrested on Monday.

Monette was booked with theft of more than $500 from an aged or disabled person. He remains in jail on a $2,500 bond.

It was unclear whether Monette has an attorney.
