PLAQUEMINE, La. (AP) - Authorities in Iberville Parish are investigating the death of a man whose body was found at a camp in Plaquemine.

Sheriff Brett Stassi says the investigation was launched after deputies spotted an empty boat floating near the Jack Miller Landing along the Grand River in Plaquemine around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

He says deputies later found the man’s truck and trailer around 7:30 a.m. in a cane field off Tenant Road in Plaquemine.

Stassi said the man was shot in the head.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name or any details surrounding the death.
