HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Hartford police say a 16-year-old boy was stabbed during a fight outside a city high school.

Deputy Police Chief Brian Foley says two students got into a fight in the back of Bulkeley High School on Wednesday afternoon and the victim was stabbed in the abdomen. Authorities say they took the other teen into custody.

Foley says the injured teen is conscious and in stable condition at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

It’s not clear what prompted the fight. Police are expected to release more details soon.
