MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Braves Historical Association are honoring former player and manager Joe Torre.

Torre signed with the Milwaukee Braves in 1959 and over his nine-year career with the team he hit .294 with 142 home runs and 552 RBIs. He made nine All-Star teams during his career, including three in Milwaukee.

Torre finished his playing career with the New York Mets in 1977. He went on to manage the Mets, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers.

He won four World Series as manager of the Yankees and was named American League Manager of the Year in 1996 and 1998.

Torre is being inducted into the Braves Honor Roll Thursday. This summer, he’ll be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
