FREEPORT, Maine (AP) - In a story May 8 about two appointments to the board of L.L. Bean, The Associated Press erroneously reported their job titles before joining the company. Hugh Farrington was chief executive officer of Hannaford Brothers, not chief financial officer, and Matthew Moellering is chief operating officer of Express Inc., not chief financial officer.

L.L. Bean appoints 2 new independent directors to corporate board

FREEPORT, Maine (AP) - Maine’s iconic outdoor apparel company L.L. Bean says it’s appointing two new independent directors to its corporate board.

L.L. Bean said Thursday it’s appointing Hugh Farrington, former CEO of Hannaford Brothers Company, and Matthew Moellering, chief operating officer of Express, Inc., in Columbus, Ohio.

Farrington held several positions with Hannaford over 30 years. He was the CEO for 10 years. Moellering has been with Express since 2007. Prior to that appointment, he was with Limited Brands and Procter & Gamble.

The L.L. Bean chair of the board of directors says the two individuals will provide direction and outside perspective. The company says a search for a third independent director will commence this year.
