POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) - A newly arrived grizzly bear at the Pocatello Zoo in southeast Idaho has been given a name.

Zoo officials tell KIFI-TV (https://bit.ly/ZWiBRF) that the 2-year-old female will be called Shoni.

The public helped select the name in a vote that required a $1 donation. The zoo raised $530.

Shoni arrived at the zoo last month after being caught in a culvert trap in Wyoming’s Shoshone National Forest east of Yellowstone National Park.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department decided to capture Shoni after she started halting horse trail rides by hanging out along the trail.

Officials say she had learned to associate humans with food and could no longer remain in the wild.

The Pocatello Zoo is an indigenous zoo, meaning it houses species native to the region.
