SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) - The Saginaw Art Museum has undergone 20 months of extensive renovations.

A series of events are scheduled throughout the month in honor of the new-look museum.

The “Macy’s Museum After Hours” celebration on Thursday provides an opportunity for the community to visit the newly designed galleries and view the reinstallation of the permanent collection of art. It’s free and open to the public.

Renovations include new HVAC systems and windows and doors, refinished wood floors, new lighting systems, fresh paint, specially designed exhibition furniture and the addition of a solarium.

The six-decade-old Saginaw Art Museum is housed in a 1904 Georgian Revival mansion with Italianate gardens and two wings located in the downtown North Michigan Avenue Historic District.
