CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - All West Virginia state flags are being lowered at the state capitol complex and at state-owned facilities in McDowell County.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin ordered the flags lowered from dawn to dusk on Saturday. The order is in honor of former state Senator A. Keith Wagner.
Wagner was a graduate of Big Creek High School and a graduate of Bluefield State College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in music education. He served two terms as a state senator and as deputy commissioner of the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Commission.
He was the charter president of the Tau Kappa Epsilon at West Virginia University Institute of Technology. He was also involved in his community and served as a member of the War Kiwanis Club.
