SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) - Police say a 9-year-old boy has been wounded by a stray bullet from an apparent drive-by shooting in Saginaw.

The Saginaw News reports (https://bit.ly/1xWwyiL ) the boy was struck in the arm Tuesday evening in the Sheridan Park subdivision while playing basketball in his driveway. The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment and was expected to recover.

No arrests were immediately reported.

Detective Sgt. Reggie Williams says law enforcement officials are “working tirelessly to put a stop to this senseless violence.”

On March 21, a 9-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting on the city’s southeast side. A man and woman are charged in that case.
