Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti was left in awe Tuesday after getting a glimpse of Super Typhoon Maysak from the International Space Station.

“Commands respect even from #space: we just flew over typhoon,” the astronaut posted on her Twitter account Tuesday.

The Category 5 hurricane is heading for the Philippines and is expected to reach its shores by Sunday. The super typhoon has winds of up to 180 mph, but is expected to lose some of its power by the weekend.

Super Typhoon Maysak is responsible for five deaths across the island cluster of Micronesia, NBC reported Wednesday.
