ROME (AP) - Eleven cities across Italy would host football matches as part of Rome’s bid for the 2024 Olympics.
Among the venues selected on Wednesday for the men’s and women’s tournaments are the San Siro in Milan, Juventus’ home ground in Turin, and the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Matches would also be played in Verona, Udine, Genoa, Bologna, Florence, Naples, Bari and Palermo.
The quarterfinals and semifinals would be in Milan and Naples, with both finals in Rome.
Italian Olympic Committee chief Giovanni Malago says “11 cities, 11 stadiums - it is from here that Rome’s bid becomes the candidacy of the country.”
Last week, Italy chose the Sardinian capital of Cagliari as the proposed venue for sailing.
Rome is competing against Paris, Los Angeles, and Budapest.
The IOC will select the host city in September 2017.
