Businessman and 2016 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump on Tuesday welcomed a new poll that said about four in 10 GOP voters think he’s running mainly for publicity, saying a lot of them are actually Trump voters and his numbers have been strong elsewhere.

“I think it’s a great thing for me — because a lot of those people want to vote for me, but they think I’m doing it for publicity,” Mr. Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash when asked about the poll out this week, which had him running second overall in the race for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

“I mean, I’m leading in some of these polls — one came out in Alaska, one came out in North Carolina, you had the Huffington Post came out with one where I’m leading nationally,” he continued. “I will tell you this — I hope that’s right, the 40 percent … because a lot of those people are voters for Trump but they won’t be in the polls if they think I’m doing it for publicity.”
