Navy SEAL veteran Marcus Luttrell demanded Monday night that President Obama have American flags lowered to half-staff to honor the fallen from last week’s Chattanooga, Tennessee, shootings.

The “Lone Survivor” author blasted reports that Marines at recruiting centers are being told not to wear their uniforms, and then he addressed Mr. Obama in a separate post: “Lower the FLAG! Sir,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Five service members have died as a result of last week’s shootings. Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez, 24, died in a shootout with police after the attacks.

“Just heard something about Telling Marines not to wear their uniforms at the recruiting centers for their own safety…?! I have to tell y’all I laughed out loud, if anyone thinks for one second a Marine is gonna take his uniform off because he cares about his safety or is scared of some [expletive] walking in off the street and trying this again (WRONG) that’s not gonna happen, that’s not how we respond in the military when we get hit, we don’t take off our uniforms, drop our [weapons] and run,” Mr. Luttrell said.

The White House has not given a reason why flags have not been ordered to half-staff.

“I don’t have more information about the status of the flag over the White House,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said during a Monday press briefing, Stars and Stripes reported.

The president ordered flags to be flown at federal facilities and military bases to be lowered after shootings at the Washington Navy Yard, Fort Hood in Texas and Sandy Hook elementary in Connecticut, the newspaper reported.
