KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A proposed land exchange in the Red Lake area between Las Vegas developer Jim Rhodes and the Bureau of Land Management may be in trouble.
The Kingman Daily Miner reports (https://goo.gl/WCr2Rt ) the BLM is investigating a possible trespassing violation against Rhodes.
A Mohave County supervisor is pushing for the investigation over possible illegally graded roads on several miles of federal land.
Rhodes, owner of Kingman Farms, wants 21,000 acres in the Red Lake area.
But his plans have drawn opposition over concerns about the sustainability of the Red Lake aquifers.
While federal violations could throw a wrench in Rhodes’ proposed land exchange, officials say it won’t stop him from drilling more wells and plowing land being blamed for massive dust storms in Red Lake, Valle Vista and Golden Valley.
