HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Lexie Brown scored 27 points to lead top-seeded and No. 4-ranked Maryland past Michigan State, 70-60, on Friday in the Big Ten tournament quarterfinals.

Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Brionna Jones each added nine points for the Terrapins (28-2), who ran through the Big Ten regular season without losing a game.

Aerial Powers had 26 points and 10 rebounds, and Tori Jankoska added 19 points for the Spartans (16-15).

Maryland led 33-24 at halftime, with Brown scoring 15 points by the break, and then took command in the second half with a 16-4 run. It stretched the lead to 60-41 with 8:26 remaining, and the Spartans drew no closer than within 10 points the rest of the game.

Jones had a team-high seven rebounds, while Laurin Mincy and Kristen Confroy added six points for Maryland, which shot 49 percent but made only one of its 11 attempts from 3-point range.

The Terrapins will face either Rutgers or Northwestern in the tournament semifinals on Saturday at 6 p.m.
