ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has called for a federal investigation into her own police department. This is an obvious attempt to deflect from her sheer incompetence and the bad decisions she made during the recent riots.

The call for a federal investigation is right out of the Democratic Party’s playbook to keep the fires of racial tension burning. It’s also part of the playbook to scapegoat, demean and degrade the police as racists.

According to this line of reasoning, the police don’t arrest minorities because minorities commit the overwhelming number of crime in the inner cities. The police don’t arrest minorities because minorities commit the overwhelming number of crimes against other minorities. According to race baiters, the police, especially the Baltimore Police Department, arrest minorities simply because they are minorities.

There is one big problem with Ms. Rawlings-Blake’s call for a federal investigation. The majority of the Baltimore Police Department comes from the minority community. To believe that racism exists in this department, Ms. Rawlings-Blake would have to believe that the majority of that department would participate in or condone acts of racism against their own minority community.

Of course, there is another possibility — that Ms. Rawlings-Blake has just crossed over into the Twilight Zone, where her twisted view of the police is reality.
