Pauley Perrette, who stars on the TV show “NCIS,” was brutally beaten by a homeless man Thursday night near her house in the Hollywood Hills, and she tweeted the details to her fans on Friday.

“So, tonight was awful, life changing and I’m only grateful to be alive,” Ms. Perrette tweeted from her @PauleyP account early Friday morning.

“I was walking across my street to a new guest house I bought to meet my architect. On my street, I was jumped by a VERY psychotic homeless man. He grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me in the nose, forehead repeatedly telling me he was going to kill me,” she tweeted. “I was alone, terrified and trapped.”

Ms. Perrette said the attacker let her go and then she fell to the ground, where she texted her friend next door and “a church friend cop” for help.

“I immediately drew a police sketch of the guy who was headed towards Hollywood Blvd. with murder in his eyes,” said the actress, who plays forensic scientist Abby Sciuto on the show.

Los Angeles Police Officer Jane Kim told The Associated Press that the actress’ account of the attack was accurate.

David Merck, 45, was arrested nearby on suspicion of aggravated battery. Bail was set at $100,000.
