MILWAUKEE (AP) — Police say one of the two teenagers injured in a shootout with Milwaukee police has been released from the hospital.

Authorities say two officers were investigating a suspicious car parked in an alley Monday night. Police say one of three teenagers in the car exchanged gunfire with officers as they approached.

Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn says one of the teenagers clearly had a gun, but it wasn’t until the boy fired that officers returned gunfire.

Two 17-year-old boys were shot and hospitalized. Flynn said Tuesday that one of them had been released from the hospital. The third suspect, an 18-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.

Officials say two handguns and drugs were recovered at the scene. Flynn says all three teenagers have criminal records dating back several years.
